I just wanted to take this opportunity to clear things up: London Bridge is still standing, and I’m assuming it is structurally sound as I walked over it twice today. The only eventful moment was when I nearly jumped the guy who I asked to take my picture. He put my camera around his neck and kept backing up until he was about 40 feet away “so he could get everything in the shot.” I almost had a heart attack. DON”T mess around with the camera! I guess he really was just trying to get a nice shot for me…
Since I haven’t been before, I decided to suck it up and pay the £20 to tour Tower London. It’s pretty cool – reminded me of Rome with the old buildings contrasted with surrounding modern architecture. But let’s be honest, I paid to see the jewels. I have to say, Queen Victoria’s small diamond crown was the most elegant and baller at the same time. Once again, loving the the Victoria connection.
Have you ever been to Afternoon Tea? It’s quite the experience! We went to the Grosvenor House Hotel, right on Hyde Park, where I filled up on Lady Grey tea, ham and egg salad sandwiches and the best scones and jam I’ve ever tasted. If the Brits do one thing right, it’s scones with tea. We were serenaded by a piano man who played everything from Phantom of the Opera to the Love Actually theme song. It was a perfectly lovely way to spend another rainy London afternoon.
