It is so good to be back in Paris! I haven’t been to visit since I studied abroad, so it is great running around to see the familiar places I walked past daily for five months. I walked around my old campus, AUP, and since it’s right there… la Tour Eiffel. We stopped at Boulangerie Julien for sandwiches and treats before waltzing along the Champs-Élysées toward the Arc de Triumph.
We arrived this afternoon, and thanks to Mom and Dad, are enjoying a VERY comfortable stay in the Hilton. Merci!! I am lucky to even be sitting here right now typing this (and enjoying a 2€ bottle of Côtes du Rhônes), because this morning when we tried to reserve tickets for our train to Paris, the wonderfully cliché French woman working in the ticket office informed us there were no more tickets available until 10 pm. If we took this train, we would not arrive in Paris until after midnight. Just to give you an idea of how ridiculous this is, a train leaves Lyon for Paris every hour. My response to this woman was, “Non. Impossible.” She replied with a blank stare. We had just waited in a twenty minute line, so we had to act fast. Madison saved the day and asked if there were any trains to Charles de Gaulle. Oui oui – and in twenty minutes we were on our way to the Paris airport. We didn’t have the luxury of arriving directly in the city, but at least we still had the afternoon to explore!
Tomorrow I am planning on visiting my favorite museum and bridge. Ooo the suspense!
