So, it’s that time of the year again. I had such an awesome 2011 that I am a bit reluctant to move on (it will definitely take me into February until I begin remembering to write dates with 2012). I am very thankful for all the wonderful people in my life, many who follow the V Life and leave me awesome comments, and I am also very proud of what I accomplished in 2011.
Looking back, it was a great year: I began with adopting a furry little friend who needed a home, celebrated dad’s 50th in style, celebrated Angela’s high school graduation, visited Madison in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta and London, completed a full year in a DC apartment (a V record!), turned 24 (an even number again!), worked up the courage to leave a job I was no longer professionally growing in, started a new job the next day, went to Europe for THREE wonderful weeks, started a blog, spent a few weeks with my family around Christmas, and rang in the new year with my best friend.
I already have a lot of new opportunities opening up for me this year and I am excited and nervous to see how they play out! I will get into my new year resolutions tomorrow, but for now I wanted to introduce you to the beauty in my photo today. Meet Marie Runyon, a 97-year old NYC resident. I consider myself very lucky to have had the privilege of knowing her for almost four years now. She is the sweetest “old lady,” and even at her age can hold a very intelligent conversation. I think we would all have a lot to learn from her, but most importantly, her approach to life. She continues to have fun everyday – singing, dancing, and joking around. Every time I see her she is in high spirits, and when I say goodbye to her I leave in a better mood. She still strives to learn whenever possible, and definitely doesn’t let anyone (including Columbia University) stand in her way when she wants something. For 2012, I am hoping to have a Marie Runyon Year – full of joy, continued knowledge, and inspiration to achieve my goals.
A very happy new year to all of you!
Cheers,
V
