Today was pretty productive. Knocked almost everything off my to-do list, cleaned up the apartment a bit, ran over to Trader Joes for pizza ingredients AND mailed my taxes. BOOM.
For dinner, Madison and I met Kristin and Joe at Ezme, a Turkish wine bar and restaurant I’ve been wanting to try. I had a 50% off Scout Mob deal (another deal app) so we figured it was a good time to try it. Well, not only did I find out the deal was only good Sunday – Thursday (I can understand that) but it was good for UP TO $10. That would have been less than 10% of our total bill. If you’re going to take the plunge into the deals world, do it. Don’t lure me in with the idea of 50% off only to have the fine print say otherwise.
While the food was okay, I’m not sure I’d go back. The restaurant is super small and understaffed, and tapas style dining can be tricky with groups. I really enjoyed my lamb kebab, and Kristin and I liked our baklava-like dessert. With Agora and Levantes closer to us, you know where we’ll be when we’re in the mood for Mediterranean.
Madison ordered a Turkish coffee with dessert, which is pictured above. I didn’t try any because if I drink caffeine after 3pm I’ll be up all night, but it looked so enticing, I almost broke my rule. Madison described it as strong and sweet with grinds at the bottom – he won’t be ordering it again. I, on the other hand, love Turkish coffee and I’m looking forward to trying some again soon – who’s up for a trip to Istanbul?
