Super Bowl Plate

Happy Super Bowl everyone!  When my team’s not playing, I could care less about who wins… instead, it’s all about the food. A few friends came over for our BBQ-style game night.  We enjoyed pulled pork courtesy of the CA Devines, mac and cheese, Boston Baked Beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and some homemade BBQ, which I am now calling VVQ. I started using a recipe I found online and then as I kept adding ingredients and tasting the results, I went rogue and came up with a tangy and spicy result. The recipe is below – next time, I may experiment with using canned tomatoes  instead of ketchup to cut down on the sugar, but here you go:

In a sauce pan, combine all the ingredients below, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes:

1 cup ketchup
1  tablespoon light brown sugar
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
3 tablespoons Tabasco sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Sprinkle of oregano

Voila… VVQ!
