January 7 – A Mild Winter’s Walk on the Beach

Water Receding

Today it was 60⁰. In January. We’ll take it!

We went for a long walk at East Matunick Beach this afternoon.  It was so beautiful out – the blues in the sky and water were crisp and the sun was bright.  Looking at the water, the ocean was calm but so clear! It looked very inviting and made us wish it were summertime again.  We found some pretty purple quahog shells and sea glass in the sand on our walk.  We always find more in the winter when they stop raking the sand.

We brought Luna with us and she had a blast, reminding us of how much Cinia loved exploring the beach. She is curled up right now sleeping deeply, tuckered out from frolicking and fresh air. Actually, as I look around, we are all tired and snuggling on the couch.

On our walk it was hard to miss all the signs of erosion.  I don’t know if Hurricane Irene is mostly to blame, but the sand dunes now stand tall with jagged edges where the water ate away at their slopes.  The homes on stilts now don’t look so high and some don’t look like they will survive another summer. We love our beach (best kept secret in Rhode Island) but it is definitely changing.

Loving the Ocean State!

December 8 – Meet Madison

Madison, the roommate and boyfriend. =)

So here he is, the boy you’ve been reading about in all my posts! Today he surprised me with flowers when he came home from work for no particular reason. So sweet and now my apartment smells wonderful!

Madison and I met at a Halloween party in 2008 – I was dressed up as Pat Benatar and he was dressed up as a Roman (Ceasar perhaps?). I went abroad to Paris two months later and he came to visit and well, here we are three years later!

It was so beautiful out today, I went on two long walks to soak up the sun.  I think Winter is officially here! It smells like snow outside which means it’s officially time for ear muffs and mittens.

November 29 – 24 years old and I have my first corner office!

My corner *home* office

Welcome to my new office! It’s much different from my last little nook in the Cubefarm. I have a TV so I can stay updated on what’s happening in the world , six windows offering sunlight and fresh air, steam heat right next to my desk so my hands aren’t so cold I can’t type, and a kitchen down the hall with healthy food and lots of methods of cooking it! What else… no fire drills, GOOD coffee around the corner, oh- and no commute. So far, I haven’t even been lonely without coworkers to shout at over the cube walls.  Lunch and happy hours solve that problem!

Just wanted to share my new set-up! Clearly I am loving it!  If anyone has suggestions for organizing home offices please let me know. I’m thinking I need a great planner for 2012 and calendar to hang up next to my desk.
